You didn't cause it. You can't cure it.
If someone you love is struggling, the first thing to know is that you didn't cause this — and you can't fix it for them. What you can do is be present, informed, and grounded.
Codependent caretaking, however well-intentioned, often delays recovery. Supportive boundaries shorten the road.
Boundaries as love
Boundaries aren't punishments. They're the line that protects the relationship from the disease. 'I love you, and I won't lend you money,' is a complete sentence.
Boundaries also protect you — and your own recovery, regulation and rest are not optional.
The Avedis family program
Our family program runs in parallel with each client's treatment. Weekly education sessions, family therapy and a peer-led support group help you build the tools you'll need long after discharge.
Lena guides families through education, boundary-setting and healing.
